New Leica M7 Hermés Edition

Leica announced today a very limited edition version of its classic 35mm M7. This is the second series of cameras co-created with Hermés, the Paris-based company known around the world for it’s exclusive products.
This very limited Leica M7 Edition will come with with come in two of Hermés calfskin leather finishes – bright orange and étoupe. Just 100 of each color will be produced and each will be sequentially numbered from 001/200 to 200/200. Each of the cameras will include a Leica Summilux-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. wide-angle lens with silver anodised metal hood. Some things that will differentiate this edition is the omission of the famous red Leica logo in favor of a classic script Leica on the top plate and the auto and 7 settings on the shutter speed dial will be replaced by the color of the camera’s leather. The camera will boasts a matching leather carrying strap handcrafted by Atelier Hermés and each set will be delivered in a linen-covered, silk-lined box.
It appears that this Leica M7 Edition Hermés will be available in the UK in December 2009 and priced at £8500.
