Wish List: The Polaroid Snap

The Polaroidsnap on CameraLuv

Polaroid debuted their Snap camera last year and it looks like a fun. It’s a simple little 10mp camera that offers 3 photo modes (normal, black & white and vintage sepia tone) and prints full-bleed images or a classic white-bordered frame on their Zink paper. You can save your images using a MicroSD card or go cardless as long as paper is loaded up. It’s available in black, white, blue and red and sells for $99.

What’s even better than the Snap? Well, the newly announced at CES 2016 Polaroid Snap+ which incorporates a bunch of updates including a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 13 megapixel CMOS, and 1080p full HD video recording capability along with remote connectivity via Bluetooth to the Polaroid print app, allowing the camera to connect and print images from other devices such as smartphones and tablets. Sadly, no prices or release dates other than Q4 have been released.

A New Super 8mm Camera from Kodak

Thanks to Tom Forbes of The Art of Photography for breaking down the new Super 8mm Camera that Kodak showed us at CES.

A Few Camera Details:
Completely new camera with some digital features like a viewfinder and wheel navigation. It will fit the old film, but also record sound, offer various speed and some lens adjustments.

What Do You Do with the Film?
Buy the film (approx $50), shoot it, and send it to Kodak for processing and digitizing. Later they’ll send you back the film roll. Pretty cool, but not cheap (but that price includes the processing).

Prices?
Prices will be in the $450-700 range depending on the lenses and features you select.

Here’s a Verge interview with the Kodak president about the release:

Must-Have: The Instax Wide 300

Just released yesterday is Fuji’s new Instax Wide 300, a new instant camera that uses their already available wide film (86mm x 108mm). The Instax Wide 300 available in Spring 2015 for $129 features an optical viewfinder, built-in electronic flash, a 95mm lens with two focus zones (0.9m to 3m & 3m to infinity), a tripod socket and a close-up adapter for macroish shots as close as 15.5-inches away from your subject.

This camera may look a little familiar to some as is kind of a mixture of a few older Fuji cameras like the 500AF (not originally available in US) and the 210 models.

Our friend Cheyenne Morrison of Big Shot Polaroids breaks down the comparisons here.

Also new from Fuji:

Fuji also released a pretty new brown/silver colorway of the Mini 90 camera (featured in December) that’s sure to look good in everyone’s hands.
