Canvas 4 – Tampa, FL – September 26, 2008

22 Oct

The Canvas 4 art show, September 26, 2008, boasted over 30 exhibiting artists, great live music and killer coffee. According to the organizers, just under 1,000 people visited their new warehouse space throughout the course of the four-hour event.

All the hard work we put into the installation seemed to pay off with a great response to the wall. We put a lot of time into creating the backdrop with vintage posters and ads with cameras from the 20s to the 60s. Displayed on top of the collaged wall we added painted/embroidered tote bags and framed prints and canvases.

It was fun to hear the comments from the attendees that our installation was their favorite. I overheard one girl comment how perfect the Fran’s Thirty Five painting would go in her room. A high school student commented that “we were like a young Andy Warhol.” (What a compliment! Hopefully we’ll live up to it one day.) While browsing the show for ourselves, one artist’s work stuck out as our favorite. Mike D (Canvas), gracefully introduced us to fine artist Michelle Sawyer. After talking for about a minute of introduction, we realized that we were her favorite artist in the show also. We got a laugh out of it and by night’s end we traded paintings. Michelle picked our Revere in Yellow 12″x12″ canvas and Jeremy picked her Octopus/Spark plug piece that was painted on a wood box.

Over all Canvas 4 was a great time, we met some new friends in the art community, hung out with some old ones, sold some art/bags and got to get the Cameraluv name and work out there. The show also catalyzed into another art exhibition invite at the Ritz in Ybor City, December 2008.

Several of the framed prints, bags and canvases originally premiered at the Canvas show are now available for purchase in the Cameraluv Art section. Prices for prints start as low as $15. Bags as low as $25. Canvases as low as $150. Get your own piece of Cameraluv today.
